Regardless of size or form, all gifts help ensure the future of Gales Creek Camp and directly benefit children with insulin dependent diabetes.

Here are a few ways that you can make a donation and a meaningful difference in a child's life:

  • In-kind Donations - Healthy nutritious meals are a central focus of diabetes camp and as you can imagine we have plenty of specialized food requirements to accommodate the needs of children on special meal plans and with food allergies. In kind donations of cases of food are always greatly appreciated especially of sugar free Jell-O, sugar free jams, Crystal lite, diet soda, sugar free Popsicles, peanut butter, graham crackers, fruit, vegetables, eggs and milk.
  • Campership Donations - You can provide a campership for a family in financial need who cannot pay program registration fees. Camp fees are $350 a week and many low-income families and families with extensive medical debt request financial assistance to pay camp fees. No child is ever denied access to camp because of the family's ability to pay fees. You can help by making a cash contribution to support registration fees for a child in need.
  • Cash gifts can also be made in honor of a past or present camper, in place of gifts to celebrate your birthday or wedding and as a memorial gift in lieu of flowers at the passing of a loved one.
  • Recurring Contributions - You can provide continuous support throughout the year with a recurring contribution. Choose a gift amount and select monthly, bi-monthly, semi-annual or annual donations. Your repeated donation will then be used to sustain operating expenses throughout the year or can be designated for a particular program.
  • Purchase a brick or a paver and your camp memories or message will be permanently displayed on the dining hall courtyard. This is great way to remember someone whose life was positively impacted by Gales Creek Camp.
  • Be a part of the United Way Campaign at your place of employment and designate Gales Creek Camp as the charity to receive your contribution. You will need to include our address with your designation.
  • Gift planning includes the donation of property, antiques, family heirlooms, timepieces, rare wine, jewelry and antique guns. Profits from the sale of these items can be designated to support specific camp programs or the Endowment Fund.
  • Corporate Matching Gift Programs - Many employers sponsor corporate matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions that their employees make. Your gift to Gales Creek Camp may double or possibly triple. Some companies also match gifts made by retirees. Contact your company's human resources department to see if they offer this opportunity. If your company uses a paper matching gift form, you just complete and sign the form and send it to Gales Creek Camp. We will work with your employer to make your gift grow.
  • Gifts of appreciated securities are one of the most significant tax breaks the IRS allows. You transfer securities to the Gales Creek Camp Foundation and we sell your securities and use the proceeds for camp programs. The benefits to you:
    • You receive gift credit and an immediate income tax deduction for the fair market value of the securities on the date of transfer regardless of what you originally paid for them.
    • You pay no capital gains tax on the donated securities.
    • You can have the pleasure of making a major gift now or funding a life-income gift that benefits Gales Creek Camp in the future.

  • Trusts and Annuities, a Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA) is a simple contract between you and the Gales Creek Camp Foundation in which you make a gift to us and we pay you an annual fixed payment for the rest of your life. Here's an example of a Charitable Gift Annuity: Daniel a former camper at Gales Creek is 68 years old now and he wants to give Gales Creek Camp a gift of $50,000 for the Endowment Fund to help future generations of children with diabetes. In return for his gift, Gales Creek Camp pays Daniel $3,350 a year for as long as he lives. If qualified, Daniel may also receive a charitable tax deduction.

Benefits of a Charitable Gift Annuity include the following: the donor is paid a fixed payment each year for as long as he or she lives. The older you are at the time of your gift, the greater your payments will be, and best of all, the payment amount never changes. Payments can be made annually, semi-annually, or quarterly based on your preference and can be deposited directly into your bank.

We have an attorney specializing in estate planning who will consult with you free of charge if you would like more information on making a contribution to our Endowment Fund, on planned giving, gift annuities or leaving a bequest in your will for Gales Creek
Camp. New tax rules allow individuals to make charitable bequests of their interests in IRAs or qualified retirement plans.
