Camp Counselor & Support Positions
Activity Director
The Activity Director is responsible for the planning and implementation of the daily schedule of camp events and special activities. Promote daily and upcoming activities to excite and prepare campers. Is a positive role model for youth and staff at all times. Assist the Camp Director in all aspects of camp. Must have the ability to work with and supervise children. Must have at least one-year prior camp experience (prefer Gales Creek Camp experience). Current First Aid and CPR certification required prior to the start of camp. Download application.
Counselors
A great job for elementary education, physical education and recreation students interested in leading, nurturing and role modeling healthy active life styles. Will supervise and guide children in developmentally appropriate camp activities. Must be at least 18 years of age (High school graduate preferred). Enthusiasm, sense of humor and patience in working with children required. Must have current First Aid and CPR certification prior to the start of camp. Must be able to commit to working entire camp schedule from June 15, 2007-August 19, 2008. Download application.
Lead Counselors
Assist the Camp Director with camper supervision, enforce policies to ensure campers safety, schedule time off, supervise all program activities, and manage counselors and CIT's. The lead counselor assumes more overall management and planning responsibilities than a counselor. Must be at least 18 years of age and have at least one-year prior camp experience (prefer Gales Creek Camp experience). Current First Aid and CPR certification required prior to camp. Counselors in Training (CIT)
Observe and assist counselors to gain a familiarity of camp staff responsibilities. Assist counselors with everyday camp issues, such as camper discipline, settling down campers at night, morning wake up, cabin time and clean up. Must be at least age 16, show enthusiasm, a sense of humor and act as a positive role model at all times. CITs will be paid $100 for their week of service.CITs must attend a training session at the beginning of summer and one week during the summer. Download application.
Food Service Positions
Cook
Responsible for meal preparation, food ordering and the supervision of 3 kitchen workers. Works with the dietitian to plan nutritious meals and special food events. Must have at least one-year cooking experience. Current Washington County Food Handlers Certificate required prior to the start of camp. Download application.
Kitchen Staff/Workers
Assist with food preparation, dining hall set up, unloading and stocking of food deliveries and meal clean up. Will be required to work as part of the food services team. Must be at least age 16. Current Washington County Food Handlers Certificate required prior to the start of camp. Download application.
Medical Team
Dietician
Coordinates food service program including menu planning, coordinating with camp cook on meal planning, and camper education. Will lead a weekly education program for different aged campers. Works closely with a highly motivated medical team including physicians and nurses. Must be board eligible or a registered dietitian. Current Washington County Food Handlers Certificate required prior to the start of camp. Download application.
Camp Nurse (RN, Graduate Nurse, Student Nurse)
Work with a highly motivated medical team, including physicians and dietitian. Supervise medication administration, insulin injections, teach self- injection technique to younger campers and provide basic first-aid. RN's must have a current Oregon license, Graduate Nurses must be board eligible, Student Nurses must have completed one year nursing school. Current CPR certification required prior to camp. Med-Tech (Student Nurse)
Work as an assistant to nursing staff, maintain supplies for blood glucose testing, and supervise campers with low blood sugars. Must have completed one-year nursing school and current CPR certification. Download application.
