Karen Gill is a public school teacher with 30 years experience. She has taught in rural Missouri, K-4 students in Lane ESD, and 6-8 grade for the last 24 years in Milwaukie, with a special focus working with in at-risk and emotionally disturbed students. She has experience on both sides of the 504 table. Karen is also a T1D mom to Annika, who was diagnosed in June of 2025 and then went to her first GCC just 3 weeks later! Karen has been using her Instructional Design Skills to educate school staff and parents about better ways to support kids with T1D at school. Fun fact: GCC board member David Yabu is a former student who Karen reconnected with at camp drop off this summer- small world!
Meghan O’Dell-Ream is an educator and specialist in Literacy & Reading, Special Education, and Social Studies. She currently teaches at St. Ignatius School in Portland, Oregon and is also an adjunct instructor in the Secondary Teacher Education Masters program at Lewis and Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling. She has taught learners in elementary through post-graduate education for over 20 years. She holds a Masters in Teaching, a Certification in Reading & Literacy, and a Certification in Special Education. She has served as a mentor to novice teachers in the classroom and has provided professional development to teachers around Oregon for over a decade. Her work currently focuses on advocacy and learning support for students with exceptionalities, including support for students and families who deserve accommodations. Meghan specializes in the integration of transformational Social Emotional Learning and community engagement for all students and supports graduate level teacher candidates in practices and pedagogy that include an ethic of care. Meghan has personally and professionally navigated the worlds of Special Education, Type 1 Diabetes, state and federal law (including Medicaid and education support policy), and currently supports multiple learners and their families to build the skills and knowledge they need for these journeys. Meghan loves camping with her children, geeking out about history, and growing giant sunflowers in her backyard.
