Got questions about being a counselor at Gales Creek Camp? This video is for you!

Counselor

A great job for elementary education, physical education and recreation students interested in leading, nurturing and role modeling healthy active life styles. Will supervise and guide children in developmentally appropriate camp activities. Must be at least 19 years of age--high school graduate preferred. Enthusiasm, sense of humor and patience in working with children required. Current First Aid and CPR certification are ideal (you may be reimbursed up to $75 for this training). Must be able to commit to working entire camp schedule from June 23th to August 17th, 2024.

Counselor in Training (CIT)

CITs are an important part of the Gales Creek Camp employment pipeline. Former campers make some of the best counselors (and kitchen staff and even nurses). The CIT program is primarily for former campers who are in between eligibilities: they can't be a camper anymore because they're too old, but they can't be a counselor yet either. However, anyone meeting the CIT requirements is eligible to apply. CITs must be at least 18 years old--high school graduates preferred.

The CIT program works like this: a total of 12 CITs (6 boys cabin, 6 girls cabin) will be selected through a competitive application process. This includes an application and interview. Those accepted into the CIT program will attend 2 days of training (one overnight) during Staff Training Week (held June 23- June 28). CITs will choose one week of regular camp in which they will join the staff and provide support to the team. This is an unpaid training position.
